Weekly Wrap Up

Grand Theft Auto 5 announcement
Rockstar has posted on their homepage an image of the logo for GTA 5 with a date below for the trailer which is this Wednesday.  There isn’t much more to say about the subject than that, no clue on a release date although I feel very comfortable saying that it won’t be until at least 2013.  So are you guys excited or is the fact that Saints Row: The Third is coming out on the 15th a much bigger deal in your mind?

No Flash for Vita
The PlayStation Vita will be pulling another page from the Apple book of mistakes by not supporting Flash.  If you are wondering what their first mistake was it was the announcement from E3 that the Vita’s 3G will only be supported by AT&T.  Anyway this isn’t said to be permanent, unlike Apple, this will hopefully be resolved with an update down the line.  I don’t see why they wouldn’t include this feature from the start I mean look at all the tech they already shoved into this thing, surely Flash support can’t be the one thing that can’t fit.  Also it worries me to see how oblivious companies are of issues outside of those relating to themselves.  I mean when they announced AT&T at E3 you could hear the audience grown, as if Sony hadn’t heard the years in which Americans complained that they wanted a company like Verizon instead/as well.  I mean I’m Canadian and I was fully aware of the issues that people were having with AT&T and now no Flash at launch, really?  It reminds me of Nintendo’s obliviousness to the fact that people always demanded a second analog stick on the PSP and then released the 3DS with just one.  You must pay attention to everything that is happening in the tech industry around you in order to innovate and dominate and some companies seem to have a really hard time with that for reasons that are beyond me.

MW3 weapon upgrades
The latest trailer for MW3 has been released.  This one focuses on the upgrades that you will unlock through many, many hours of multiplayer.  They are now introducing “weapon proficiencies”, which gives you weapon enhancements like “reduce kick” that you can unlock after gaining enough XP with a weapon.  I hate it when upgrades are anything more than cosmetic because it gives people who put in more time an even greater advantage than they should already have from simply playing more.  For those who don’t get the game right away all this does is discourage them from getting into it because everyone else will be more skilled and have better weapons.  It wasn’t enough to have unlockable weapons that were better than the starting ones or perks that increase bullet damage or let you take out a pistol and shoot people after you were supposed to die; now they must make the better weapons even better if you use them enough.  I never really cared for the multiplayer in this series despite how popular I know it is.  This is only making me want to avoid it more.

Capcom releases dates
Two of Capcom’s biggest games of next year now have release dates and best of all they aren’t that far away.  First is Asura’s Wrath the unique action adventure game where you pummel everything in sight will be released in NA on February 21.  The other is Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City where you take control of an Umbrella agent tasked with making sure no one can tie Umbrella to the outbreak by destroying evidence and eliminating survivors; including those that originally survived the events of RE2 & 3.  Personally I’m interested in both of these games but want to see a little more before I decide whether to buy, rent or pass.  How about you, anyone out there dying to get their hands on one or both of these games?

Batman: Arkham Knight Critique - Joker Story

The most compelling aspect of the story in “Batman: Arkham Knight” for me was Batman’s ongoing hallucinations of The Joker. I had heard...
