Weekly Wrap Up: Jan. 9

Syndicate undergoing some Special Operations
A new trailer for Syndicate shows off a co-op mission mode.  4-player Co-op was already announced for the game but we now know there will also be a mode, similar to Modern Warfare’s Spec Ops, where you will be tasked with smaller missions designed for co-operative play.  The trailer says that the missions “demand” teamwork, but it is yet to be seen whether that simply means that it is ideal to be play as a team or if it requires a team in order to be played.  It is obviously designed for you and three others to handle but it would be nice if I could do the missions (probably on a lower difficulty) by myself.  The game will be released on February 21 and you can check out the trailer below.

Gotham City Imposers delayed
For those who aren’t aware this is a downloadable over-the-top squad based shooter featuring a bunch of wannabe batmen and jokers.  The game was set to come out tomorrow on January 10th but it got pushed back and now it won’t be available until sometime in February.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus
Seriously, how many times does this game need to be remade?  The PS3 version of the Xbox game from 2004 has been ported over to the PS Vita.  The game will have some new optional mechanics thanks to the Vita’s touch screens and gyroscope.  I assume it will also have some added bonus like the previous versions in the form of new mission mode challenges and/or costumes.  The game will be released on the Vita’s launch day of Feb 22 and will be one of the best titles available for the system.  That being said if you have played it before I don’t know if you would need to buy it again and if you haven’t played it the PS3 version will be cheaper since it was released back in 2007.

Graphic novel goes game
Square Enix is publishing a game called ScaryGirl by TikGames based on a graphic novel of the same name.  The game has a very playful art style and seems to feature the mix of action and platforming that we see from most kids games.  It offers strictly offline co-op, which sounds weird at first, but since the game is for kids it makes since that if they want to play with people it has to be with people they know.  It will be available on Jan 18th on XBLA and the 24th on PSN.

Price drop on an unreleased game
Another downloadable game on its way this month is simply titled Amy.  It is a survival horror game that managed to stir up some controversy before even being released.  The publisher Lexis Numérique announced that the game would cost 800MSP ($10) on the Xbox 360 and that it would cost $12.99 on the PS3.  The reason for the discrepancy was that Microsoft Points don’t have the same value in every country.  Amy is being developed in Europe and 800MSP is worth €10 which comes to around $13.  Obviously North American gamers got upset and so the publisher decided to hold a poll and let fans decide if the game should be reduced to $10 on the PSN.  They voted and the obvious answer of yes was decided upon, which means that the game will be pushed back a week (a consequence fans were made aware of) in order for the price change to be sorted out.  So now the game will be released on the Xbox 360 tomorrow and on the PS3 on the 17th.

Batman: Arkham Knight Critique - Joker Story

The most compelling aspect of the story in “Batman: Arkham Knight” for me was Batman’s ongoing hallucinations of The Joker. I had heard...
