Weekly Wrap Up: July 24

A lesson in Revengence
A new gameplay trailer for the latest entry in the Metal Gear franchise, Metal Gear Rising: Revengence, was released.  It shows off a section of the tutorial, allowing us to see how the precision sword slicing mechanics can be used in order to not only look really cool but also to defeat enemies faster and possibly save hostages.  The game looks like a lot of fun and I can’t wait until next year so I can finally play it.

Deadpool to be penned by Marvel writer
Last week one of the weekly headlines I wrote was that there was a new Marvel game in development at High Moon Studios and that it stars Deadpool.  The trailer was funny and awesome and so was the site, so I was totally excited by this announcement.  Now this week I’m even more excited because it turns out that Daniel Way, who writes Deadpool comics, is the man behind the game’s story and it is always good news to hear that people who know and have worked on the property previously are there to help design any sort of adaptation.

AC3 season pass
Ubisoft has stated that they have started a second team for Assassin’s Creed 3 that is focused solely on producing DLC for the game.  The game is more than three months away from coming out and I must say it bothers me that they are bringing other people onto the project that are not trying to refine the core product and eliminate bugs/glitches or potentially speed up production so that we can get the game earlier, but are instead focusing on what else they will be charging us for after the game comes out.  For all we know some of this DLC could end up being completed by the time of the game’s release leading to either disk-locked DLC, which everyone hates, or content being held back until shortly after the game’s release.  They are also planning on offering a season pass for the game, which typically means that there will be at least a few add-ons released and that you can save some money by paying for them all upfront before even knowing what all of the content will be.  There is no word on what any of the DLC will entail, but I feel it is a safe bet that there will be additional content for both single player and multiplayer.

The Dark Knight Rises
Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy came to its climactic conclusion when it rocked theaters this past Friday.  If this is news to you then you have been living under a very sad and depressing rock for quite some time.  If you haven’t seen this movie and are still reading this instead of reserving seats at a movie theatre near you so that you can see it for yourself then you are making a mistake.  Seriously, go see this movie, like right now, and if the theatre is closed then call up some friends or schedule some personal time so that you can figure out when you are going to see this movie because you must start taking steps towards this goal.  Come on people it is The Dark Knight Rises we are talking about here, you have to go see it.

Batman: Arkham Knight Critique - Joker Story

The most compelling aspect of the story in “Batman: Arkham Knight” for me was Batman’s ongoing hallucinations of The Joker. I had heard...
