Weekly Wrap Up: July 3

Fortnite in San Diego
Epic Games has only shared a few details on their upcoming title, Fortnite, all we really know is that it will be a major departure from the tone and content seen in their popular Gears of War franchise.  Surprisingly the game was completely absent from this year’s E3, but luckily we will get a chance to see it very soon at Comic-Con this month.  Epic will show footage of Fortnite’s gameplay for the first time as well as give fans some more info on why they started this project and how is was conceived.  I’m a huge fan of Epic Games and I can’t wait to learn all about their new IP.

The line goes on
Fans of Spec Ops: The Line can get excited because the game is expected to receive some free DLC around August.  The content will consist of 4 co-op missions set before the game’s campaign and will place players in the boots of new characters in new areas.  The description mentions battling against waves of enemies but there is no mention of any sort of moral decision making that the game uses to set itself apart from other modern day shooters.

Kirby Collection
To celebrate Kirby’s 20th anniversary the Wii is getting a collection of 6 classic Kirby games: Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Super Star and Kirby 64: The Crystal ShardsKirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition (it is the only edition, not a collector’s one or anything) will also come with the single player challenge mode from Kirby’s Return to Dreamland, a CD soundtrack, artbook and a “History of Kirby” gallery that can be accessed in the game.  Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition comes out on September 16th.

AC3 way to limited edition
Assassin’s Creed 3 will undoubtedly be one of the year’s biggest and, judging from what I saw at E3, best games. So obviously Ubisoft is going to put out a collector’s edition of some sort to go along with it.  In fact they have two on the way.  The first one is for 360 & PS3 owners and in addition to the game it comes with: a 9.44” statue of Connor, an embroidered 24”x48” colonial flag and a 3”x3.25” belt buckle.  The second is for PC owners and comes with the game, a notebook from George Washington giving insight into his role in the game, 3 single player missions, 2 in-game outfits, 2 in-game weapons, 2 new multiplayer characters and a collection of the best audio tracks from the Assassin’s Creed series.  The first will set you back $120 and the second will only cost $65!  Personally I feel like this would be a hard decision if both were the same price but since the console one is nearly double, the PC version is clearly the better deal.  I’m getting it for the 360 so I’ll pass on the collector’s edition; although if it also had the PC version’s content thrown in I might feel differently.  Assassin’s Creed 3 comes out on the 360 & PS3 on October 30th, the PC version has no release date as of yet.

L4D2 still getting DLC
Left 4 Dead 2 has a large amount of DLC on its way for 360 owners.  Back in March of 2011 PC and Mac players were greeted with a fan made map called Cold Stream.  Since then many of the bugs have been worked out and Valve is releasing it as a new campaign for 360 owners.  Along with it will come Blood Harvest, Crash Course, and Dead Air, which were all campaigns in the original Left 4 Dead. No Mercy from Left for Dead has already been made a free add-on for L4D2, so with this players who own the second one will have access to almost all of the original.  There is also an update that will arrive alongside Cold Stream that allows mutations (game modifiers) to be used.  No price has been set on the DLC yet.
Edit: I don't know why but the site I found this info on left out Death Toll, so all of the original L4D maps will be available in L4D2. Also there is now a release date of July 24.

Batman: Arkham Knight Critique - Joker Story

The most compelling aspect of the story in “Batman: Arkham Knight” for me was Batman’s ongoing hallucinations of The Joker. I had heard...
