I'm sorry It took me so long to post this article. I recently moved and was just way to busy with a whole bunch of stuff to get around to this blog. When I did have time to write it was for a review that I'll be sure to post later this week. Anyways here is more news from Gamescom in case you still haven't caught up on all of it or maybe missed something.
The Last of
Us trailer
It’s a trailer for The Last of Us. I wanted to watch it put stopped shortly in
because I hate watching scenes from games I know I’m going to get because it
just spoils part of the experience and I am definitely buying this game.
Black Ops 2
changes
Call
of Duty: Black Ops 2 is making some changes to its multiplayer
component. First off there will no
longer be kill streaks as they will
now be called score streaks. With score
streaks you can rack up score through kills just as like before as well as by
performing tasks that assist your team.
For instance protecting a flag carrier or a territory will give you
additional score to increase your streak,
as will things like capturing flags.
There will finally be a skill based matchmaking system called League Play that will put you in matches
with people who have a similar level in multiplayer. Lastly the loadout options have undergone some
reconstruction. Rather than a set of
designated slots for weapons, grenades, perks, etc., you will have 10 slots
that can be exchanged for apparently just about anything else. I still think that the max number of weapons
will be two, but apparently you can decide to do things like give up a
secondary weapon in order to get an additional grenade or go without grenades
in order to get another perk.
Army of Two
trailer
The new Army of Two’s first trailer was shown at Gamescom and it looks pretty much like you would expect it to except
with a lot more things getting destroyed.
There seems to be some destructibility to the environments outside of
the set-pieces, but I’m curious to learn how much of that there really is and
if it is possible to fully destroy cover.
I still feel like they made the wrong choice by focusing on new
characters, in fact a part of me was hoping that Salem & Rios were
hiding out undercover or something but the trailer shows that is not the case.
AC
Liberations trailer
The game is looking pretty good; it
seems to have incorporated the new mechanics from Assassin’s Creed 3 such as corner-cover and found some ways to
implement the Vita’s touch controls. The
part of the trailer that says “touch to kill” is a little strange because of
how easily all the kills were achieved, but I’m going to assume that it is an
ability that you must earn, like Mark
& Execute in Splinter Cell Conviction and the upcoming Black List.
Need for
cloud
Need
For Speed Most Wanted has included a new feature called Cloud Compete. In the game the goal is to become the most
wanted amongst your friends and you achieve this by racking up speed points. Cloud Compete
allows your speed points to be
transferred across multiple devices, including 360, PS3, PC, Vita,
iPhone and Android phones. It seems
interesting but I for one am not going to be buying the game on multiple
systems, so I don’t see the practicality of this feature.
Revengence
release date
Metal
Gear Rising’s release date was revealed along with a new character. The trailer should look familiar up until
about 3:20 because it is the one from E3,
after that the new stuff starts. Along
with a new robotic dog thing comes the release date for the game. Metal
Gear Rising: Revengence will come out on Feb 21 in NA and Feb 22 in EU.
Halo 4
Specializations
Halo
is adding armor sets called specializations for players to unlock. Once you go through the first nine levels of
unlocks and have all of the cosmetic options available you will be able to
unlock the 10th, which gives you a special ability. There are 10 specializations leading to a lot
of info to take in. IGN has an expansive article breaking it down.
Borderlands
2 has a near invincible boss
Crawmerax
the Invincible from The Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC
pack was supposedly the most difficult enemy in Borderlands and was part of a mission called ‘You. Will.
Die.’. Now in Borderlands 2, Gearbox is looking to top their previous effort and
make one of the hardest bosses ever in the new mission called 'You.Will. Die.
(Seriously.)' featuring Terramorphous the Invincible who is
supposed to be nearly impossible for players to beat.
ZombiU
trailer
Another trailer for Ubisoft’s upcoming Wii U
exclusive was shown off at Gamescom
and while it looks cool it doesn’t really present anything new and also fails
to top the awesome Nursery trailer from Comic-Con. I still think the game looks great; even if I
won’t ever play it do to a lack of interest among myself and all my friends in
the Wii U.
New PS3
games
I don’t know much about any of these
games, but here is what I have. Until Dawn is a horror game inspired by
campy horror movies where teenagers go into the woods and get picking off by a
mad man and it uses the PS Move. Puppeteer
is a platformer where the world “moves around you”, since you are on a stage
and new areas come onto the stage so that you can interact with them. Rain
is a game where you are invisible except for when you are in the rain, at which
point you can see your character’s silhouette.
They all seem to either have an interesting idea or look but the
gameplay isn’t selling me, except for Until
Dawn, which I hope is also compatible with a regular controller because I
will never buy a Move.

Little Big Planet Vita
In
addition to revealing the incredible looking Tearaway, Media Molecule showed off a new trailer
for Little Big Planet Vita. It focuses on not only new ways to play, but
also new ways to customize levels. I
have spent almost no time with the Little
Big Planet games so I am no expert but to me the series appears to be at
home on the Vita due to how easy it
is to customize levels just by touching the screen as well as for offering up a
multitude of different small experiences throughout its many packed in and
community made levels that allow for quick and entertaining gaming on the go.
