Weekly Wrap Up: Sep. 25 TGS Edition

Sony’s answer to the Wii U
Sony will be releasing yet another redesigned PS3 in an attempt to boost sales and, quite obviously, draw attention away from the upcoming Wii U (not sure that’s necessary though since most people that I talk to don’t even understand what it the Wii U is let alone want it).  The Super Slim PS3 will launch in North America with two versions.  The first is a 250GB model bundled with Uncharted 3: Game of the Year Edition and the free-to-play shooter Dust 514 along with a $30 DLC voucher for the game on Sep 25 (today) for $269.  The second is a 500GB model bundled with Assassin’s Creed 3 and a 30-day subscription to PlayStation Plus on Oct 30 for $299.  Europe will also have two versions but I don’t know what sort of bundles will be offered.  Europe will get the 500GB model on Sep 28 (making it way too early to be bundled with AC3) for 299 Euros (making it cost more in spite of the last parentheses) and a 12GB Flash Memory model, instead of the 250GB Hard Drive model, which will come out on Oct 12 for 229 Euros.

Vita news
The Vita will be getting PlayStation Plus support starting this November.  This will allow for Vita owners to get their hands on a number of deals offered by Sony as well as 1GB of cloud storage, automatic content downloads, updates and Trophy syncing.  The service costs $17.99 for 3-months or $49.99 for 1-year.  The Vita is also getting two new color schemes: "Cosmic Red" and "Cypher Blue" in Japan on Nov 15.

Kingdom Hearts HD
Square Enix announced yet another Kingdom Hearts title that isn’t Kingdom Hears 3, yay.  Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX will be coming to the PS3 (well at least they finally got the console right), but unfortunately it’s only half the HD collection you would expect.  Kingdom Hearts HD will only include the original Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories (the PS2 adaption of the GBA title).  This means that fans not only still have to wait for Kingdom Hearts 3 but they also have to wait for Kingdom Hearts 2 HD to be announced in what will likely be KH HD 2.5.  WTF Square?  The collection will also include all of the cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, which can be viewed in the game’s Theater mode.  Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix is expected to arrive in Japan next year with no word about the North American or European release schedule.  Why don’t they just start Kingdom Hearts 3?  I hate HD remakes; they are a waste of time and at this rate if KH3 ever comes out it will be on the PS4, so why even bother getting new PS3 players?  I mean at the very least give us a release date or some sort of news on Final Fantasy Versus XIII!

Crysis 3 multiplayer
Crysis has added a new multiplayer mode called Hunted.  In it two players in Nanosuits with invisibility and other perks hunt down the other 6-14 players in the match.  Each time one of the hunters picks off a player that dead player joins the side of the hunters.  The goal is to try and survive the hunters for a set amount of time or if you are a hunter just kill everyone once before time runs out.  It sounds similar to the Infection gametype in Halo if you are familiar with that except the stand version here puts the survivors at the disadvantage.

Ninja Gaiden news
Ninja Gaiden 2 is getting ported once again, this time to the Vita with Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2.  Also there is a Ninja Gaiden spin-off in the works titled Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z.  In it you play as a ninja who Ryu killed, but was then revived and enhanced by scientist and now seeks revenge.  Also for some reason you are fighting a bunch of zombies along the way.   The game is being made by Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man, who’s other upcoming game, Soul Sacrifice, has been delayed until next year.

Batman: Arkham Knight Critique - Joker Story

The most compelling aspect of the story in “Batman: Arkham Knight” for me was Batman’s ongoing hallucinations of The Joker. I had heard...
