Weekly Wrap Up: Oct. 2

Mass Effect Trilogy
Bioware has announced that a Mass Effect trilogy collection is on its way.  The PC version of the collection includes all 3 games, both add-ons for ME1, Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station, the Cerberus Network for ME2 containing Zaeed – The Price of Revenge, The Firewalker Pack, Cerberus Assault Gear, the Arc Projector heavy weapon, and the Normandy Crash Site mission and ME3’s online pass, which enables its multiplayer component.  The 360 version is the same minus the ME1 DLC for reasons I don’t understand.  The PS3 is scheduled to get a version but its release date has not yet been unveiled.  Bioware has said though that PS3 players will finally be able to play Mass Effect 1 when it is released separately on PSN for $15 on the same day as the trilogy for PC and 360. The Mass Effect Trilogy will be released on November 6th in NA and on November 9th over in Europe for $60.  There is no word on the Wii U getting a version of this collection, which is unfortunate because no one should jump into Mass Effect in its final act.  Also if you haven’t played this series then you owe it to yourself to buy this collection when it comes out.

MGR special edition
Metal Gear Rising: Revengence will have a special edition that includes the game, the soundtrack, and a high frequency plasma lamp designed to look like Raiden’s sword stuck in the ground.  There are no details about the price of this special edition but it will be available at launch on Feb 19 in NA and Feb 21st in EU/JP.

Injustice collector’s edition
Injustice: Gods Among Us, the DC based fighting game from NeatherRealm Studios, also has a cool collector’s edition on the way.  For $100 you get the game, a 13” statue featuring Batman and Wonder Woman fighting (the statues are apparently going to be different for the NA and EU versions but both will feature Batman and Wonder Woman), three alternate costumes, one each for Batman, Superman and Wonderwoman, based on their appearances in The New 52 comics line that DC is currently working on, a digital download for the DC animated film Justice League: Doom and a special edition issue of a new DC Comics series.  The game is scheduled for release in April of 2013.

XBL rewards for Gamerscore and politics
Xbox Live is finally giving out rewards for Gamerscore.  There are three categories or levels to the new reward system called MyAchievements.  The first is Contender, which is for players whose Gamerscore falls within the 3,000-9,999 range, and nabs you a “Special Gift” during your birthday month.  The second is Champion, for the 10,000-24,999 range, and includes the “Special Gift” and a 1% rebate on your purchases at the end of every month.  The third and final level is Legend, for players with Gamerscore of at least 25,000, and gets you a “Special Gift” during your birthday month just like the others and a 2% rebate.  Also if you are an Xbox Live Rewards member you can get a Spartan IV armor suit for your Avatar if you tune in to at least three of the presidential debates for at least half an hour.  While it is cool that Microsoft is trying to incentivise people to pay attention to the election it’s not like it really matters since everyone is going to be do busy buying and playing Halo 4 on Nov 6th to actually go vote.

Batman: Arkham Knight Critique - Joker Story

The most compelling aspect of the story in “Batman: Arkham Knight” for me was Batman’s ongoing hallucinations of The Joker. I had heard...
