Assassin’s
Creed 3 DLC Season Pass
Ubisoft
will be offering players a Season Pass
for Assassin’s Creed 3 that allows
them to get all of the game’s upcoming DLC
upon their individual releases for one $30 purchase upfront. Details for some of AC3’s planned DLC were
also revealed by Ubisoft. They will be supporting the game’s
multiplayer component with new maps and playable characters and there is a
3-part single player campaign titled “The Tyranny of King Washington” revolving
around an alternate history in which, after the American Revolution, George
Washington becomes King of the USA, which sounds pretty badass.
We’ve lost
another one
After 20 years at Epic Games, Design Director Cliff Bleszinski who is famous for his work on the Unreal & Gears of War series has left the company. It sounds like he has decided to take a step
away from the game industry and is looking for a new career, but it is possible
that he will return to gaming eventually.
This is the second major departure from Epic in recent months as back in August Director of Production Rod
Fergusson left the company to join Irrational
Games and work on Bioshock Infinite. Gears
of War: Judgment is still scheduled for release on March 19th
2013. I’m pretty bummed that Cliff is gone since I’m a huge fan of Gears of War and the man himself, or at
least what I know of him from interviews and such. On the topic of departures it also really
sucks that Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, the founders of Bioware, left their company last month and
appear, at least for the time being, to have retired from the industry.
It’s a demo
not a beta
This just in: Medal of Honor: Warfighter is the latest game to misunderstand the meaning
of the word ‘beta’. This week they
started up what they are calling an ‘open beta’ on Xbox Live to get players interested in the game before its release
on Oct 23rd. The thing is a
beta is supposed to provide the opportunity for people to look at your game and
report bugs and flaws that need to be addressed BEFORE launch. They have no time to respond to comments
before they have to ship the game out the door, so any tweaks the team makes will
arrive post launch in a patch just like they would anyway. This is not a beta it is a multiplayer
demo. Tons of games have done this over
the years. Why is it that some companies
just blatantly lie and misuse terms for no reason? Are the people making games like Medal of Honor and Battlefield (they made this mistake as well) just so dumb that they
don’t understand the words they are using?
ME3
Retaliation
Mass
Effect 3 is getting yet another free multiplayer add-on titled: Retaliation. This marks the fourth multiplayer add-on that
Bioware has released for the game and
it is definitely the biggest. It supposedly
adds 16 new playable characters, 3 new weapons, 6 gear bonuses, 3 new ammo
bonuses, introduces environmental hazards in the form of Acid, Lightning, Meltdowns, Sandstorms, Swarms, and Whiteouts for 6 existing maps (I assume
those are the 6 originals) that can be turned off if you don’t want them and
finally challenges for players to strive for and earn. Oh, I forgot one last thing: it adds a 4th
enemy type, the Collectors from Mass Effect 2. The Retaliation
pack comes out today in NA and tomorrow in EU. You can check out the trailer by following the
link below.
