Weekly Wrap Up: Mar. 20

Vita getting MGS Collection, mostly
The PlayStation Vita has another big port on its way in the form of the Metal Gear Solid Collection.  The only problem is that it won’t be a full port.  It will include MGS 2&3 Substance but not MGS: Peace Walker.  I know Peace Walker is originally a PSP game so technically one could download it to the Vita but it is weird that it isn’t in the collection, especially since the collection’s version of Peace Walker was designed to support a second analog stick, which isn’t on the PSP but is on the Vita.

Battlefield 3 going Close Quarters
The new add-on to Battlefield 3’s multiplayer offering really lives up to its name.  The maps will feature smaller more enclosed spaces that are so small that Rush mode won’t be playable and no vehicles will be present.  So if you like Battlefield without the scope or vechicles that set it apart from other shooters like say Modern Warfare you really shouldn’t be dropping $15 on Close Quarters when it comes out in June.

TMNT movie in the works
Everybody’s favourite “heroes in a half shell” are heading back to the big screen again and returning to live-action, this time with Michael Bay at the helm.  I know a lot of people hate on Michael Bay and what he did with the Transformers series, but while I admit that he could have done a better job I did enjoy the series so I’m kind of interested in seeing what he does with the turtles.  However news of the film is already off to a bad start; it was reviled this week that in the movie about “Teenage MUTANT Ninja Turtles” the turtles will be ALIENS! I have no idea why they would be aliens since they are mutants and what this will mean for other characters like Splinter is anybody’s guess at this point.  Hopefully this movie isn’t a massive mistake, especially since it is coming out on Dec 25, 2013.  That’s right if this movie sucks Christmas will be ruined!

Diablo 3 Release Date
It has a release date!  Diablo 3 has a freaking release date!  Hooray, Hell comes to Earth on the PC on May 15th.  Still no word on when PVP will be available, but hey at least the majority of the game is almost here.  Hopefully unlike Duke Nukem Forever, Diablo 3 will prove that games that take over a decade to develop can actually be worth the wait.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City DLC
The latest Resident Evil game comes out today in North American and on Friday over in Europe for the 360 & PS3.  The game, which focuses on Umbrella operatives, has an add-on that puts you in the shoes of the Special Forces team that is trying to take them (you) down.  It will also include the scene from RE3 where Jill must escape Nemesis, which ought to stir up some memories for long time fans.  The add-on will be available on Apr. 10 and will be completely free.

Telltale Games: The Walking Dead
So after watching the insanely good Season 2 finale of The Walking Dead TV series on Sunday I’m kind of on a Walking Dead high, which is why it is so nice of Telltale to have finally released the trailer for their new game inspired by the comicbook series.  The game will follow the story of a new set of survivors near Atlanta trying to make their way through the zombie apocalypse.  It will be released in parts starting with part 1 in April and ending with part 5 sometime down the line.  So if you are interested all you have to do is buy the first part to see if it is something you’ll like, instead of paying for the full game, which is an interesting business model that I’m hoping works out well.  The game looks pretty interesting from the trailer and I hear that it will try to offer the player a lot of very challenging choices, which sounds like a lot of fun.  My main concern at this point is how the combat in the game is since Telltale is used to doing adventure games as opposed to action oriented ones.

Batman: Arkham Knight Critique - Joker Story

The most compelling aspect of the story in “Batman: Arkham Knight” for me was Batman’s ongoing hallucinations of The Joker. I had heard...
