Weekly Wrap Up: Mar. 5

Whole lot of release dates:

Gravity Rush
One of the coolest looking games for the Vita has finally gotten a release date.  Gravity Rush a Japanese Action game from SCE (Sony Computer Entertainment) Studios Japan where you get to control gravity with the gyroscope in order to navigate and fight enemies.  This game looks awesome and actually makes me want a Vita, so if you have one already you should check it out on June 12 when it is released state side and June 13 when it comes to Europe.

BioShock Infinite
Bioshock Infinite, a game I am really looking forward to, has finally gotten a release date. The game will come out on October 16.  If you’ve never played a BioShock game before but have been interested, I recommend keeping an eye out for this one since you can hop right in to it due to the fact that it isn’t connected with the other games in the series.

Steel Battalion
Last week when writing about Reign of Thunder, I wrote that it had been a while since I heard anything about another big mech game called Steel Battalion: Heavy Armour.  Well now I have. The game will be released on June 19 and will be an interesting test as to whether or not the Kinect is capable of supporting hardcore, mature gaming experiences.  I’m also curious if the game will be $39.99 like other Kinect games since the original game went for about $200.

The Amazing Spider-Man
The video game based off the upcoming Spider-Man reboot will be coming out on June 26, a week before the movie.  I always found it weird that they would risk spoiling plot points from the movie by getting the game out ahead of time. Shouldn’t fans see the movie, which is the main attraction so that they by the usually less than stellar game for a lot more money?  I don’t know, but that is beside the point.  What is the point? Why the point is that even if this game sucks you will be able to play as Stan Lee in it!  It hasn’t been announced what he does but the coolest thing I can think of is having him as a skin for Spider-Man so you can swing around the city as Stan “Freaking” Lee.  Ok I lied, that is the most practical thing I could think of, the coolest would be if he had every awesome power from all the great Marvel super heroes and was just a totally indestructible badass, but that would be very hard to throw into a game.

DMC story details
The new Devil May Cry series stars a very different Dante. Not just in terms of physical appearance but in terms of back story.  In this series Dante as a child bounced around from orphanages and correctional facilities run by demons where he was abused and tortured, finally explaining the clips from the original trailer where Dante is chained up in what looks like an interrogation room going through some sort of torment.  His world, which is called Limbo, has both humans and demons but Dante feels out of place with both sides, it hasn’t been revealed yet if he knows that he is half-demon/half-human or if that is even true in this version.  His father is still Sparda who gives him his sword called Rebellion in order to keep him safe from the demons that hunt him.  His guns are called Ebony and Ivory, which sounds like it is meant to signify how he is caught between two different groups.

Pirates in the Kingdom
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be getting its first major DLC pack called The Legend of Dead Kel.  Judging by the picture Kel looks to be an undead pirate, which is twice as cool as a regular pirate.  The add-on will include a new continent to explore, along with new main and side quests plus new weapons, armour, and Twists of Fate cards.  All for just $10 on PSN & Steam or 800MSP on the 360.

Batman: Arkham Knight Critique - Joker Story

The most compelling aspect of the story in “Batman: Arkham Knight” for me was Batman’s ongoing hallucinations of The Joker. I had heard...
