Weekly Wrap Up: Apr. 24

Nintendo lining up its big names
Miyamoto has confirmed that Pikmin 3 as well as a new Mario Bros. game will be shown off for the Wii U at E3 this June.  In addition to that Nintendo has announced that New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be for the 3DS instead of the Wii.  The Wii isn’t totally abandoned though because a Kirby compilation is on its way to the system to celebrate the pink ball’s 20th anniversary.

Tekken Tag 2 no character DLC
Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada has said that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will not feature any characters that must be unlocked through paid DLC.  He has also said that he doesn’t have anything against Capcom or their business strategy (smart since they are working together), but Tekken sees the characters as chess pieces who are integral to the game and cannot be kept unavailable for players.  From what he has said there might be downloadable costumes for the characters if the fans want them and there may be an option down the line to buy the characters if you don’t feel like unlocking them by playing the game like in previous instalments.  I’m glad to see someone come out and say that they will not charge people money for what they were always given before and it is a smart move as well since it means there game is less expensive, which would make be want it as opposed to Capcom’s fighters.

Arkham City GotY Edition
Batman Arkham City will be releasing a Game of The Year Edition that contains all of the game’s DLC.  This includes the one that came with new copies and should have been on the disk because of how much they talked about its significance to the story (Catwoman), the one that you got for pre-ordering at the right place (Robin) and the only one people should have had to pay for (Nightwing).  In addition it will have a brand new piece of DLC, which will be the game’s last, titled Harley Quinn’s Revenge.  The new add-on is story based and features both Batman and Robin dealing with Harley Quinn after the fallout of Arkham City.

Deadlight Gameplay trailer
A gameplay trailer for the new XBLA game called Deadlight looks pretty interesting.  It seems like Shadow Complex meets I Am Alive meets zombies.  So check it out below.

Dishonored
The premiere trailer for Dishonored was released.  The trailer looks really cool but I would like to see more of it including some gameplay and maybe a power coming from that left hand that isn’t the same as a shout before I get to excited.  Also I know this is published, not created, by Bethesda but seriously not every game needs to start with your character in a prison, ok guys?

Halo 4 details
Halo 4 will have a number of changes to its multiplayer experience.  First off they are attempting to create a reason for the multiplayer and it is that you are a Spartan IV, a new type of Spartan, and are in a holographic training scenario.  Other changes include Sprint being a default ability and Reclaimer Vision, which allows you to see through walls, as a new armour ability.  They have also added the ability to unlock changes to your loadouts as you rank up.  I hate seeing better weapon loadouts for more experienced players like in CoD, I would rather they keep unlockables purely cosmetic.  I have to say though, I don’t understand what loadouts you will be able to pick since you obviously can’t start with a Rocket Launcher so would have to pick between something like the Pistol, Assault Rifle and DMR, which means everyone will pick DMR and then swap out armour abilities like in Reach.  There is also a new mode called Regicide.  It is a free-for-all gametype where one player is King and every time he kills someone the amount of points his life is worth increases.  So if the king (who has no unique powers, this isn’t a Juggernaut variant) gets a killing spree then whomever kills him would receive 6 points.  Lastly is Spartan Ops, probably the most intriguing change to Halo 4 I’ve heard yet.  It is an episodic co-op campaign.  Every week a new episode in a linear narrative is released and has 5 missions.  You and your team (presumably up to 4 players) of Spartan IVs work together to complete these missions, meet new characters and visit new locations.  They are apparently looking to make Spartan Ops the size of a full campaign so I have no idea how small these missions are or how many episodes there will be, but it is an interesting way to keep people coming back.  If every week there is a new part to a story for me and my friends to play through I’ll keep coming back to that mode until they stop making new ones or they start to suck.  Halo 4 will be released on November 6th, to read and hear more on Halo 4 check out GameInformer in the link below.

Batman: Arkham Knight Critique - Joker Story

The most compelling aspect of the story in “Batman: Arkham Knight” for me was Batman’s ongoing hallucinations of The Joker. I had heard...
