Weekly Wrap Up: Apr. 17

Resident Evil 6’s release date changed
The highly anticipated latest core instalment in the Resident Evil series has, to my immense surprise, had its release date moved up.  The game will now be coming out on Oct 2nd instead of Nov 20th.  I don’t know why they are now able to shave a month and a half off their development time but I am happy to find out that I will get to play this game even sooner than expected.  Along with the new release date comes the announcement of the most expensive special edition I can think of, a Premium Edition available only in Japan for 105,000 yen ($1300 US).  Why so expensive?  Well it comes with 4 cases, which I hear are for tablets but I don’t know why that would be bundled with the game or what tablet it is designed for, since they all have different dimensions.  However, the real reason is that it comes with a replica of the jacket Leon will be wearing in the game made out of fine soft leather. Unfortunately for those paying $1300 over in Japan, I’ll be paying $60 and will be playing it about 35 hours earlier because it doesn’t come out in Japan until Oct 4th.  Are you jealous Japan?  Well, not as much as I am of anyone who gets that jacket.

Dragon’s Dogma Demo
Capcom’s soon to be release Action-RPG will have a demo available on Apr 24th in NA & the 25th in EU for XBLA & PSN.  The demo will include two missions: one that will place the player in the shoes of the powerful Fighter class against a Chimera and another as the balanced Strider class against a Griffin.  The full game will be available in NA on May 22nd and in EU on May 25th.

Skyrim for Kinect
A free patch for Skyrim on the 360 (not the PC though) will be available later this month and will allow up to 200 commands to be voice activated through Kinect.  You can assign weapons and spells to your hot keys than swap them out on the fly during combat, bring up your map and select a location by name rather than looking over the massive map and most importantly execute Dragon Shouts by using the Dragon Language.  That is right you can now shout Fus Ro Dah at your TV and knock back opponents, LIKE A BOSS!

New Kinect game sounds awesome
Another exciting Kinect announcement is that there will be a Dragon Ball Z game built exclusively for it this October.  The game will feature over 50 playable characters and 100 moves.  There will be only two modes: story and score attack.  I get that split screen multiplayer would be difficult because of the high chance of accidentally (or strategically) hitting the player beside you, but online versus would have been cool.  The battles take place in first-person and you get to punch and kick and perform awesome moves like the Kamehameha Wave.  I’m not into motion control gaming and I prefer to see something like what Bethesda is doing with Skyrim where the Kinect adds to, rather than dominating, the experience, but as a DBZ fan I have to say that I really hope this is great because if it is I will play the crap out of it!

Find the planet all over again
Capcom announced that there will be another instalment in their Lost Planet series, which along with Dead Rising was designed in an attempt to appeal to western audiences.  The new game will take place before the first two, during the early colonization of E.D.N. III and so will return to the icy environments showcased in the original.  From the trailer it appears to be including a little more horror in the game along with some environmental hazards brought on by storms.  Also there is the obvious return of big monsters and big mechs, which is always cool to see.  The game is set for release in early 2013.

Dante’s still got it
Lastly from Capcom, which had a pretty great week apparently, a new trailer for DMC was reviled. It shows off some gameplay as well as the fact that Dante may look different but is still 100% badass.  Also I learned, though not directly from the trailer, that Limbo isn’t a world per say but a midpoint between the human and demon dimensions that Dante exists in and that Dante is being hunted by both sides because the humans can’t see the demons like Dante does and the demons make it look like all the damage is caused by Dante.

Batman: Arkham Knight Critique - Joker Story

The most compelling aspect of the story in “Batman: Arkham Knight” for me was Batman’s ongoing hallucinations of The Joker. I had heard...
